This line was derived by A.F. Gazdar, H.K. Oie, J.D. Minna and associates from a lymph node metastasis obtained from a patient prior to therapy. Ultrastructural studies demonstrated the presence of cytoplasmic structures characteristic of Clara cells. The cells express protein and RNA of SP-A, the major surfactant associated protein, and SP-B. SP-C RNA was not expressed. |
