The cells secrete prolactin and express functional dopamine receptors [U.S. Patent 5,510,260].
Complete Growth Medium The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated F-12K Medium, Catalog No. 30-2004. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium:
  • fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 2.5%
  • horse serum to a final concentration of 15%
    • Subculturing
    Cultures can be maintained by addition or replacement of medium. Establish new cultures at 2 x 105 viable cells/mL and maintain between 1 x 105 and 1 x 106 cells/mL.
    Medium Renewal: Every 2 to 3 days
    Note: The line grows as clumps of cells in suspension.

    Complete culture medium described above supplemented with 5% (v/v) DMSO. 

    Cell culture tested DMSO is available as ATCC® Catalog No. 4-X.
