Derivation
Animals were immunized with cells from the human T cell line, Jurkat, E6-1 (ATCC TIB-152). Spleen cells were fused with Sp2/0 myeloma cells. The antibody is specific for the beta chain of the T cell antigen receptor (TCR) on Jurkat cells. It is useful for studying the T cell receptor signaling pathway using the Jurkat cell model.

Complete Growth Medium The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated RPMI-1640 Medium, ATCC 30-2001. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum (ATCC 30-2020) to a final concentration of 10%.
Subculturing Cultures can be maintained by addition of fresh medium. Alternatively, cultures can be established by centrifugation with subsequent resuspension between 1 x 105  and 2 x 105 viable cells/mL.  Maintain cultures at a cell concentration between 1 x 105 and 1 x 106cells/mL. Do not allow the cell concentration to exceed 1 x 106 cells/mL.

Medium Renewal: Add fresh medium every 2 to 3 days (as cell density increases).
Cryopreservation

Complete growth medium described above supplemented with 5% (v/v) DMSO.  Cell culture tested DMSO is available as ATCC Catalog No. 4-X.
